Greetings folks, for those who are contemplating obtaining a Master's license from the USCG, some info on experience requirements that I shared with a fellow Master. The main link for licensing is at: http://www.uscg.mil/STCW/index.htm

The link below is application info from the USCG that describes experience requirements. Bottom line: you can get Master Inland and/or Mate Near Coastal up to 100GRT with 360 days sea time, but need 720 days to get Master Near Coastal. To get Oceans you need 1080 hours and 200GRT, 720 of which can be Master or Mate on Inland or Near Coastal.
