I checked this site out a while back and came away with the impression it was not really ready for incorporation into a homegrown GIS project. I took another brief look just now and think maybe I understand; they just scan a paper chart, use the depths based on the depth countours [it said by color I think] and that becomes the raster.
I'll play with it some more, but I would think that would make a rather unsmooth 3D representation, particularly using something called "hillshade". What think you? Have you seen a hillshade of the benthos?
OKA bathymetry.
There is an EEz or something like that; seems like it was using contours every 10m and gobbled up bytes like crazy. That would only be 5fath tho so shouldn't be too bad.
Thanks.
