Topic: Sailing at Anchor
I found some postings on sailnet on this issue.
Contributors suggest the following:
1. Put out two bow anchors...one at a short scope to create drag on the ocean bottom.
This may have negative impact on the sea life below...perhaps just put a second anchor out in a bahamian set up?
2. Set up a Bridle from the stern to the bow rode.
I have used this effectively to modify the angle of the boat perhaps into a changing swell direction ... but have never tried it to limit sailing at anchor.
3. Put the Wheel/Tiller to one side and lock it down.
I tried this on a beneatau in the BVI with little success.
4. Hoist an anchor riding sail off the back stay.
Maybe we could modify an old capri sail?
Feedback please...any other ideas?

SCUTTLEBUTT:For those wondering about the phrase itself, 'scuttlebutt' is the word for the barrel that holds the fresh water on ships. The scuttlebutt resembles today's watercooler, and has become a slang term for gossip, since much gossip is exchanged at office watercoolers.
