Well the planned trip to Santa Barbara was altered due to high winds, rough seas, and no way to get on to Santa Barbara Island since the ladder has been washed away. So we went to Catalina instead... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=745754678802687. Great trip, nice weather, great wind while at the island. |

Kevin Bardool is on Henri Lloyd sailing/ racing around the world. He was a student in the Saddleback classes for several years including skippering our local and island cruises. Regarding the MOB in the news recently and discussed in class Mon. night, Kevin wrote: He was on Derry-Londonderry, not our boat. I will find the link from the skipper incident report and post it. The rescue took over 90 minutes. They lost visual, and a storm came through while he was still in the water. We spoke with Andrew (the MOB) briefly a few nights ago. He mentioned the toughest parts were the storm, and the actual extraction from the water. He owes his survival to his drysuit, and his personal AIS. If he had regular foulies on, the outcome could have been quite different. https://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/newsitem/happy-to-be-alive http://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/skipper-report/3168 https://www.clipperroundtheworld.com/newsitem/derry-londonderry-doire-successful ly-recovers-man-overboard |
