Hello Campbell’s Sloop crew! Part of the crew got together on Monday to have a crash course on terminology, sails, and rigging. We also practiced raising and dousing sails. As you know by now, we have been switched to Campbell’s Sloop, as Escape’s engine repairs will not be completed in time for our trip. Campbell’s Sloop is a great boat - extremely well kept by her loving owner - and I’m sure you will enjoy sailing aboard it. Susie, thanks for letting us have your boat for this trip!! I would recommend going over the checklists and also other postings on the board for tips and other information we might have not covered. Cheree’s e-mail has some good tips and suggestions! We will start loading the boat around 6pm, but I will probably be there before that. I would recommend trying to be at the docks as close to 6 as possible, since there is a lot of work to do and pre-cruise checklists/reviews that we need to go over together. We will meet in front of the Aventura clubhouse. I will try to contact each one of you during the day to make sure you are aware of the changes, answer any questions/ concerns you may have and also get an estimate on when you will be at the docks tomorrow. It would just be a basic go-through at the docks. I feel they are a bit anxious on what to expect from the trip, since none have really sailed before. A shake sail would really help them get to a better comfort level, but I know we don't have much time left until the trip - what are your thoughts? I'll post an update on the board later.. Regarding a shakedown sail, yeah, its kinda late for that. Anybody doing a sail next week?? I am available Mon but not for Tues or Wed and I am sure the boat will not be ready by Mon.
