Participation grade The following scale was proposed by Susie last year. I think it is pretty good. Thanks to you all for a great cruise and for those of you who have never done anything like this before, I hope it has opened up new horizons. Hi Mark; Here's my input on how to grade. These are the areas I thought were important to look at. I give up to 5 points on each area. 1. Pre and Post cruise a. Helping to load the boat and get it ready b. Helping to un-load and clean up 2. Preparation for Cruise a. Carries through with responsibilities given before the cruise. packing/items asked to bring/ 3. Participation during the cruise a. following through on orders given. log/watch/meals/sailing duties 4. Care and Consideration for others a. helping to pass on knowledge to others b. Looking at others needs and responding c. being resposible for belongings 5. Attitude a. Being willing to work "hand in hand" with each other b. filling in where others may be weak c. Making the best of the experience d. willingness to learn | ||

I have finished grading the exams except for Pilgrimage [not received] I will have them available for you to pick up after noon today, either just inside the lounge door or just inside the classroom door. Commonly missed questions: Radio procedures are make contact on 16 but swtch 68-72 to talk. No talking on 16, only brief contact. No aerodynamic lift on a run; "the force is not with you" I apparently did not make it clear enough that we do everything in nautical miles and some have tried to make a conversion to statute miles. If you did that I will make some accommodation if you did it correctly. What makes a gybe safe is CONTROL; all the other things make it UNSAFE. |
