By the way, Toni if you can get the group organized to leave earlier than 2100, so much the better. I'll be in touch with you and Charles by cell phone to know when you depart so we can plan our departure accordingly.

Charles, if you can keep to your plan of joining the scout boats early that will help greatly.

It'll be Lucinda Mae and not Glin de Mar. Glin de Mar will not be ready in time for this trip, so I will be contacting you from Lucinda Mae, a light green 58 foot high performance cruiser.

Lucinda Mae Crew:

It's a light green 58 footer that will be tied up next to an 85 footer named Kialoa III. When you get to the parking lot, wander down on to the docks and look for us. We'll be looking for you right around 2100 (9:00PM).

After the Dana Point boats depart, I will be very interested in knowing your course and speed so that we can plan to rendevous with you out in the San Pedro Channel. Please keep track of your speed made good, and compare it to your speed through the water - this will give you a feel for current if any, and help me to plot my course to intercept you on my way out of Newport Beach.

It will prove interesting for both my crew and the crews on the DP boats to see if they can figue out the course and speed that Lucinda Mae should make to meet up with you along the way. Boat Captains, please help crew with this, and let's stay in contact on the radio.

Speaking of radio contact, let's start by hailing each other on 16 and then swithcing to a working channel. We can decide to stay on a working channel for a while if there's a continuing need to talk, but let's all return to 16 as the evening wears on, or when in doubt.

MST 289 Summer Trip Details for Departure

I will place gear and items you guys will need on Pilgrimage during the day on Thursday, including:

18 parking passes for the east lot by the scout docks which is between the Youth & Group facility and the Dream Catcher Yachts Bldg.

Small inflatable dinghy (new, in its box) for Fugga Oui. Please keep all the parts including the oars and stuff for the pump together. We'll need all that stuff again.

Small inflatable dinghy (the venerable Mark Howe pool toy) with pump and oars for Half Moon. Please keep all the parts together.

(Kevin, please bring your inflatable for La Mouette)

Handheld VHF for Half Moon - the Saddleback model

Bucket with harnesses and tethers, and 1 set of jacklines.

Set of final exams for each boat.

Bucky's 2hp outboard will be in one of the lazarettes, along with fuel jug.

Bucky will bring his fold-up dinghy down approx 6:00 PM. Please leave this and the outboard aboard Pilgrimage for Bucky at the end of the trip.

Post here or call with questions!

Marc
