OK; I did the Relates thing and it worked. Follow the scheme in Chapt 9 as follows: Pits_75 = Trawl Midpoint Metals table = Fish 9899 IDNumber = Station Don't forget to Set Selectable Layers = Midpoint When I selected one station to see what fish were found there, it selected all of the stations, but that was good. I exported the resulting table and put it back into the map. Now I can select whatever I wish at will. New work will be selecting various fish species counts [by attribute] and comparing occurrences by depth and transect. I think we need to make the transect and depth into two fields. eg. J in one field and 30 in another. | ||

Read Chapt. 9 to see the differences. The fish data files have many entries per event which requires relating rather than joining. It looks like the examples in the book are very similar to what we are trying to do, but I have been working on the Thales today and never got to trying out the relates function. The Thales works. John, did you ever install the ArcPad desktop on your machine? Anybody else interested in putting ArcPad on their own machine and trying it? |
