Revised schedule to reflect what is actually happening and to schedule more classes at the harbor. There is a meeting room there and we have access to the equipment on the vessels.

On 10/16 the Dean, Don Taylor, will be stopping by during the first hour to evaluate my teaching skills :-) I have a meaty radar session planned. This would be a good time to make an extra effort to come on time.

At our last meeting it became apparent that the discussion of compasses and autopilots belong together as the autopilot is the principal user of an electronic steering compass.

Likewise it seemed that the subject of data communications should immediately follow GPS as the initial need for communications will be with the GPS and computer.

Because we have decided to distribute radar simulation software, it seemed appropriate to reduce the lab time spent on radar simulators.

I have fairly high hopes for getting another Mariner vessel equipped with radar and chartplotter. That makes two boats in the 36 foot range which should accommodate the class and makes more live radar experience feasible.

We never had a mid-term scheduled. I will continue to monitor comprehension with quizzes. Finally, I thought it would be better to leave the chartplotter and radar competency exams until we have had all the live radar sessions.
