Regarding the Saddleback MST214/215 Sailing classes for January.
There are class schedules on the back of the flyers sitting on the front table at Aventura. Class [Fridays 17-2100] begins on Jan 17 but we won't actually be on the boats until the 24th; that class will be only for orientation.
At that class we will go over the current ramifications of report forms [squawk sheet??], boat manuals, float plans, etc. Sandy has agreed to meet with us at that session to explain current procedures and policies.
REGISTRATION:
I can register you; you don't need to stand in the registration line at the college unless you really want to. Also there is online and telephone registration if you can figure it out.
I have registration forms sitting on the file cabinet inside the door to the Aventura classroom. The cost is less this time [$115] to maybe attract new students from the campus who may not have the big bucks.
The breakdown remains, MST 215 are the chiefs and 214 are the indians. They run concurrently with student skippers [chiefs] helping out with discussions as well as skippering on the water. Chiefs are required to write leadership papers. Let me know if you have any questions about the classes.
Note: my plan is to run the class this year the same as last and then next year get a split between the old cruising class out to the islands and the present Fri. evening sail class. Titles would be something like Advanced Sailing for one and Cruising for the other. Creative huh? Then alternate years with them. I'll keep you posted.
