With 26 or more enrolled, it's a 5 boat trip. With 24, it's a 4 boat trip. "Fugga Oui" the Newport 30 has been reserved with Aventura, and I will definitely take the Cal 48, Glin de Mar out of Newport.
Just reconfirmed we have Pilgrimage, Half Moon, and La Mouette. |

MST 289 Class Location Change!!!
MST 289 will meet at Saddleback College, TAS 225 (Technology and Applied Science building). ALL MEETINGS OF MST 289 WILL BE AT TAS 225.
This class location is listed in the Saddleback class schedule, but I just wanted to avoid confusion. Change was due to uncertainty with Aventura's move to its new location. Future Saddleback classes will be back at Aventura. |

Marc, I'm in. I will miss the 6/24 date. I will however be at all the rest of the meetings. I would be happy to skipper if possible. I will keep up on the class on this board.

MST 289 Channel Islands Class - Update
As of this writing we have 26 enrolled! This will be a full class.
Boat captains so far:
Toni Rawlins
Charles Kepford
Kevin Bardool
Marc Hughston
We may need a fifth boat captain depending on enrollment. Jon Coltrane is a "maybe" depending on his work situation. If any others want to participate, like David Sheriff, Jeff Johnson, or anyone else I may have inadvertently missed, please let me know ASAP.

Here's what the Saddleback College Catalog will say about the MST 289 class:
Through a combination of classroom lectures and a 3-day sailing voyage, students gain knowledge, skill, and experience in cruising under sail. Provides a foundation of seamanship skills and experience navigating and handling a sailboat. Prepares students for more advanced seamanship courses, and provides experience for personal growth.
Class Plan for Summer 2005:
6/24/2005 - 7:00 to 10:00 PM (Friday)
Information meeting at Saddleback College, TAS bldg, room 225. Will discuss trip plan, how to register, prelim. coordination of skippers and boats.
7/22/2005 - 7:00 to 10:00 PM (Friday)
First Class meeting at Saddleback College, TAS bldg, room 225.
7/29/2005 - 7:00 to 10:00 PM (Friday)
Second class meeting at Saddleback College, TAS bldg, room 225.
8/4/2005 - 9:00 PM (Friday)
Depart the Dana Point Harbor, bound for Santa Barbara Island and Catalina. Arrive back in Dana Point late afternoon / early evening Aug. 7.
What the Saddleback College Catalog doesn't explain is just what it's like to find a star to steer your boat by on the night crossing to Santa Barbara Island, or what it's like to snorkel or dive with the sea life in Elephant Seal cove, or what it's like to spend a night at anchor in a remote cove...you'll just have to sign up for the class and experience it first hand! |
