I guess my brain is not together yet. Forgot to collect the skipper evaluations last night. Two weeks is too long to remember. Bring 'em next time.

This link does a good job of showing why it is theoretical [flat water], and how a surfing wave changes everything. I use 1 1/3 as the formula; easier than 1.34.
Everybody always assumes that the shape of the hull will make a difference, but no, it only affects how easily the boat gets to hull speed. It doesn't change the hull speed. |

Please fill out the below evaluation at home/ before class so that you can make it as anonymous as you wish. Think hard about how to make it as beneficial as possible just as you would want someone to advise you.
Fold it so that it is not visible and put it into the appropriate envelope Monday night. The envelopes will be sealed and given to the student skipper without anyone else seeing them.

Tomorrow, Thursday, is Senior Day at Saddleback.
Anybody available 12-3 tomorrow, come to the Saddleback Central Quad area and help us recruit High School Seniors for the Marine Science Tech/Seamanship programs.
We will be demonstrating knot tying, electronic navigation, and showing pictures of the cruises. Bring any pictures you have.
I think you also get a free BBQ lunch, but you have to be there between 12-1.

This is a map I made from Half Moon's GPS track log on the Catalina Island trip. The software I used to create this map is ARCGIS. This is what we are learning in Mark Howe's "MST 219 - Marine Ecological Survey GIS" class |
