Hi Mark, would you please post the following on the electricmarine web site; for some reason I am unable to post on the web site. Thanks Larry Barley MST students, I am planning on taking out Rhapsody Friday night leaving the dock at 1700. Class is canceled on that evening so this would be an extracurricular sail. Anyone interested please contact me at barleylarry@hotmail.com. or 949-683-7435. . This sail will be offered on a first-come first-served basis. Thank you David and Mark for the advice. I will keep a look out and hopefully create opportunities to get on the water. My work schedule is 11am-9pm M-Th. Mariners on Wed.night is out but I may be able to assist/learn on the weekends. | ||

As someone told me truthfully, it's all about time on the water. You need the time to make all the common mistakes so you really learn not to make them again. There is no wind in Dana Point before 10 am so forget that. Get involved with the Sea Scouts, I guess they call them Mariners these days. There has usually been a group of people who charter the Mariner boats for the experience. See if you can make a friend of one of them. The folks who assist in class supervising boating labs will know who these people are. Contact the yacht club for a list of the beer can racers. contact the people particularly on the bottom half of the list (in terms of results) as they may need crew and will probably settle for little experience or just rail meat or a grinder. | ||

Extra-curricular sails are possible in conjunction with this class. Some of you are already involved with the Mariner Scouts and have access to the boats. Some of you are members of the Aventura Sailing Assn. in the harbor. Get together, divide up the cost, and go sailing for fun and practice. Some of you may want to become involved with the Mariners. We can help. Some of you may belong to the Aventura Sailing Assn. and some of you may be interested in membership. We can help. If you are interested, bring it up in class and see who else is interested. | ||

If anybody knows of sailing opportunities please let me know. I will be missing class on two occassions and need all of the sail time I can get. Available most weekends and mornings before 10am. |
