Further suggestions regarding watch standing: Those coming on watch should be on deck, dressed, with all required equipment (hat, sunglasses, clothing, harness and tether, etc.) at least 5 minutes before their watch is to begin to allow them time to get up to speed with the environment, read any additional standing orders that have been entered into the log, etc. Those going off watch are to bring the oncoming watch up to speed regarding course and speed to be maintained, weather, any newly issued standing orders, etc. Communication is key to ensuring a smooth hand-off between watches! |

Greetings Folks, the following is the Deck Watch schedule I would like to use. You will each have a rotating watch of 2 hours on and 2 hours off. Within each watch I would like each of you to rotate between the Helm and Sail Trim stations every 30 minutes, even though its not specifically noted on the watch schedule. Marc and I will be on rotating 3 hour watches as OOD. Notice that I generated a schedule for an entire 24 hours. I did so to allow us to use this schedule no matter what our departure or arrival times actually are without having to redo it. Also note that every hour there is a fresh person coming on watch-that is by design. I also wanted all crew members to stand watch with all other crew members. If a night passage was anticipated I would try to alternate watch standing by cabin to leave the entire cabin to one person at a time for sleep. Note: Galley and Housekeeping duties will need to be worked around this schedule... Note: I will post this list in a conspicuous place for reference while aboard.
